If you have ‘love handles’ around the sides of your stomach, you probably don’t love them very much. In fact, it’s a safe bet that you want to get rid of them as fast as you possibly can.
If you have exercised for a good number of months, you may have noticed that the rest of your body has slimmed down but the love handles are still there as they always were. In fact, because your body is slimmer, the love handles may appear even more prominent.
Losing your love handles certainly doesn’t mean that you have to start taking drugs for that purpose. Nor do you have to hire a personal trainer. In fact, you don’t even have to go to the gym.
The only thing you need is the right approach.
Obviously, to tackle your love handles, you will need to do exercises that are exactly focused on them. In addition, exercises aimed at the mid-section or abdomen are helpful. However, those exercises that are more generally focused will not be as effective.
So, will I have to devote a lot of time on extensive exercises? The answer is no. A simple 20-minute per day exercise is more than enough to tackle the most stubborn love handles.
If you do crunches or sit ups which are the most common form of abdominal exercises, you will be focusing on your abdomen and not your love handles.
The sides of your stomach is where flabby excess fat tends to collect and is where you need to be focused as opposed to the front.
Here is a simple exercise for this area of your body: Stand erect with your feet a shoulder’s width apart. Then bend your body to one side as far as it will go without flexing your knees. Do the same for the other side.
Do you feel the side muscles of your abdomen working? If not, then it’s a sign that you either are not stretching enough or just plain not doing it right. You should find that you’re able to work these muscles well after repeating this exercise for a few minutes.
Doing this exercise with three sets of 20 repetitions each will start to firm up the muscles on your side. Then, you will see your love handles start to shrink.
If you havn’t already, get up and start it right now. It’s easy enough don’t you think? The great thing about this exercise is that it can be done practically anytime, anywhere and any place. There’s no need to worry about how you’re going to work it into your schedule.
Now go tackle those love handles – you no longer have an excuse!
